New contact info for ChiroKiddos

Hello fans of Chiropractic and specific pediatric care!
It's been a while since we've posted anything about ChiroKiddos. In fact the web site was down temporarily and we were in limbo recently (primarily from relocating and starting up GENESIS Chiropractic in NW Arkansas), but now we are back online and ready to serve our clients.

Just as a reminder, ChiroKiddos exist to help Chiropractors teach children and their families about Healthy Spines & Healthy Habits so we can help more Kids have Healthy Lives!

Our new prices should make it easier for doctors to do more marketing and patient education.
The ChiroKiddo dolls have adjustable, palpable spines and are not only fun for kids (of all ages), but are very helpful for doctors.

Genesis Chiropractic -- Update

Howdy to everyone out there on the internet!
I know it has been too long since I posted. We had a fantastic time out in CA last summer/fall during our internship w/ Dr. Tom Forest He is an amazing man and an incredibly talented upper cervical doctor. Another shout out goes to our coach, Dr. Kevin Donka, who has been working w/ us since early October as coach-consultant-cheerleader through the many trials of starting up a chiropractic office.
The new practice will be open for business in May, 2010. Although I had planned to have my doors open in February (knowing full well this was wildly optimistic), I resigned myself to the fact "It takes longer and cost more than you think it should." Anyway, it has been an exciting journey with a million twisits and turns along the way!!
Nat at truecreativeinc has been designing an incredible logo for us. Just wait until you see it...I've looked at some the early design concepts...
more to come.
And one last thing about ChiroKiddos: we are back in business (after having stuff in storage for about 1/2 a year). Check it out on the web.

Palmer Homecoming EXPO - where's the chiropractic?

Whewww! That was a busy weekend...but we made many great contacts with Chiropractors, Palmer alumni, professors, administrators, and students.
ChiroKiddos was one of the few truly "chiropractic" vendors in the alumni auditorium, and while this was disappointing in some ways, it was an encouragement to us. We were reminded again of the importance of getting the message out about the BIG IDEA of true health and wellness through removing subluxation. Amidst all the other exhibits focusing on pain relief, vitamins, nutrition, massage, natural pills and potions, etc. our voice for chiropractic education was in the minority.
This may be a key to long term success, finding a niche and sticking to our principles.

Pediatric Diplomate Certification Recognized by Both ICA and ACA

I was encouraged to come across this Press Release about the coming together of the ACA and ICA on the issue of pediatric chiropractic specialization. ACA's article. ICA's article. The two leading chiropractic associations now both accept the postgraduate training originally developed by the ICA's Pediatric Council. It is exciting to see the ACA agree with the purpose and accept the ICA's 15 year old program as their official credentialed program for specializing in Pediatric Chiropractic...interestingly, this is the first Diplomate ever recognized by both Associations.
The degree is called the Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics (DICCP). Check out the specifics of the DICCP here. It is a board certified and fully credential postgraduate degree in pediatrics for doctors of chiropractic.
The advancement of this part of our profession ought to be an example to the rest of us to "get along" a little better and work toward unity in areas where we can be truly unified for the good of the public.
Let's Keep Moving Forward!
The children deserve our best efforts.

Local Newspaper Coverage

ChiroKiddos was featured on the front page of the Business section in a couple of our local newspapers. The website QCOnline had the story too. Although the author, Rita Pearson, did a pretty good job presenting the company's ideals, several knuckleheads have posted comments on the website. Hopefully not many people will read them, but I guess the old adage "any press is good press" will pull us through the negative remarks and the wrong name in the title..."Chirobuddies?!?"
This was a fun time for the kids and Jessica even though she was a little nervous about the interview.

Becoming Influential vs. Popular

My darling wife found this great little article about what it means to be an influential person. She is a constant reminder to me how important it is to be intentional and excellent in my life. Being lazy, haphazard, and inefficient is not virtuous or worthy of admiration.
Since I hope to be the type of father my children will emulate, I must reach for the heights. In 12 simple steps the reader of this 12 qualities... blog is encouraged to move beyond ordinary, and money isn't the prerequisite answer to becoming an influence on others.
Chiropractors possess amazing potential to have a powerful impact on the lives of their patients. We can model healthy decision-making for children, teens, and adults of all ages. Living for something bigger than popularity will not be easy. It takes vision, work, and commitment to rise above the crowd. While it is natural and common for humans to seek acceptance and approval from others, these things are not what motivate truly influential individuals.
Kuddos to "RH" for her article!

Healthy Spines + Healthy Habits = Healthy Kids

-- ChiroKiddos exists to help Chiropractors bring the BIG IDEA of health and wellness to children and their families. We believe that every child deserves to live a full and healthy life.
-- Since the brain and nerves control every function of the body (immune system, endocrine and hormone activity, tissue growth, repair and wound healing, strength and coordination, learning and memory development, special senses, plus all the internal organ systems), it is imperative to maintain a healthy nervous system. This is especially important during the rapid growth periods children experience...from birth through the teenage years.
-- The spinal column houses and protects the brain stem and spinal cord. When the spine is not properly aligned it will often impair nervous system function, leading to reduced nerve signals, loss of health, diminished immune function, and decreased ability to adapt to stress. Traumas, toxins, poor posture, emotional stress, and "just being a kid" can injure the supporting tissues of the spine allowing misalignments to occur. A child often develops a vertebral subluxation complex (VSC) without the parents even knowing it.
-- The VSC is commonly understood as a structural misalignment and/or malfunction of the spine which compromises the flow of nerve impulses and reduces the body's innate ability to adapt and function properly. The physiologic effects of a VSC (disruption of homeostasis) often go unnoticed for years until the long term neural deficit contributes to pain or some other known pathology.
-- Normal playing, simple falls, and even birth trauma all can cause vertebral subluxation. The resultant nerve interference diminishes the body's ability to adapt to its environment. This subluxation process can explain the lingering health problems, infections, allergies, deficits, diseases, and other named disorders many children suffer from every day.
-- The good news is that VSC is a reversible condition! Each child needs to have his spine checked for subluxation by a Doctor of Chiropractic. Even if the child appears normal and healthy, Chiropractors are the only health care practitioners in the world trained to detect and remove vertebral subluxation by adjusting the spine. True health and wellness is achievable if the body can function as designed, free of nerve interference.
-- I invite you to join with ChiroKiddos by helping us promote "Healthy Kids" so this generation of children can live up to their maximum potential. We need to teach them "Healthy Habits" (avoid all drugs & toxins, eat lots of fruit & veggies, and exercise regularly). We also need to provide chiropractic care and "Healthy Spines" for all ages, especially children. Read more in my Healthy Kids blog posts.
